JOB DETAILS:
Summary
• The core purpose of this position is to facilitate community engagement, build and strengthen local partnerships, and strengthen community-led initiatives to improve and sustain the well-being of children and families. Overall, the District Coordinator will closely collaborate with the Senior Partnership Portfolio Specialist on the management of all ChildFund activities in its operational areas in Chibombo District.

Responsibilities/ Key Performance Results Area
Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
Program Management
• Facilitate the planning and implementation of activities using recommended models, techniques, standards, and tools to achieve output targets within scope of work, time, and budget.
• Ensuring timely submission of quality consolidated reports from the communities (monthly, quarterly, annual, and other reports).
• Supervise Program Officers in implementing activities to improve integrated implementation for impact, measure and synergize integration opportunities.
• Provide technical input for effective community engagement for programs, projects, and sponsorship education of partners and community in understanding key priorities for child well-being.
• Provide leadership in the delivery of high quality, efficient and effective program/sponsorship monitoring, tracking, exceptional reports, follow-up, coordinate timely design and development of quality service delivery as per standard.
• Work closely with the M&E officer for regular monitoring and evaluation, assessments against project objectives and timely submission of reports.
• Facilitate and support local level advocacy in the organization interventions for better service provision/delivery.
• Ensure training in capacity building for community members and other relevant stakeholders to improve quality in service delivery and effective implementation of activities.
• Participate in documenting and sharing of programme lessons and promising practices with partners and stakeholders.
• Contribute to an ethos and culture of the organization that are consistent with the organization Vision, Core Values, Guiding Beliefs, and Policies
Sponsorship Management
• Supervise the Program Officers to ensure that program activities are carried out in a timely and professional manner.
• Provide support, guidance, training to families, supervise Program Officers and monitor sponsor relation activities.
• Work with the Community Volunteers and Program Officers to ensure that sponsored children and families participate and benefit from the programs implemented by ChildFund.
• Ensure the child selection criteria are followed in line with the organization priorities and local context and coordinate overall process of child selection and related functionalities.
• Support the design of community growth plan, enrolment process of children and monitoring availability of the children.
• Ensuring that Program Officers are maintaining high standard of stewardship and accountability for all resources entrusted to them.
• Ensuring that the Program Officers have good understanding and adherence to child protection issues/ policies.
• Ensuring that the Program Officers have the knowledge and skills in engaging children and youths in activities that promotes their development.
Capacity Building and Development
• Work with the Program Officers and communities to ensure quality delivery of projects and programs.
• Manage all ChildFund assets entrusted to you for your work.
• Mentoring Program Officers and Community Volunteers to effectively monitor implementation of programs and projects.
• Work with the Program Officers to ensure that the parents, community members, children and youths actively participate in project review and planning meetings.
• Encouraging active participation of community leadership in project activities.
Representation, Networking and Advocacy
• Liaising with institutions with stakeholders, government departments and structures in planning and implementation of programs that benefit vulnerable children in the community such as the DEBS, District Health Office, and other partners at National level.
• Ensuring the observance of Child Protection Policy (CPP) by all Community association staff.
• Monitoring and reporting any child abuse cases to relevant authorities.
• Provide effective representation of interests of children and youth among the partners and networks stakeholders at the community and district level.
Process Monitoring and Documentation
• Spearhead the designing of community monitoring plans for projects and programs.
• Ensuring that monthly and quarterly community meetings are held to give feedback on the programs and projects to community members and CO.
• Documenting best practices and case studies in program interventions in all the communities.
Other Duties
• Keeps oneself updated on the latest methods and practices on community development and capacity building for application in the community.
• Attend to any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors from time to time.

Minimum Education Qualifications, Experience And Competencies
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Development studies, Social work, Demography, etc.)
• Knowledge and Experience in Results Based Management (RBM) is an asset.
• More than 3 years of experience in development work.
• Excellent people skills, commitment to work and history of adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills; solid field experience within the field of community development is required.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking
• Knowledge and understanding of children’s issues
• Good facilitation skills
• Experience in working with diverse and multicultural environment
• Experience in working with government and other development agencies
• Ability to work independently and under tight time constraints.
• Computer proficiency in general office software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Good written and oral communication skills in English; fluency in a local language required.
