Zambia Open Community Schools (ZOCS) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization under the Societies Act Section 7 (1) under the Laws of Zambia. ZOCS is a vibrant and flagship organization of Community Schools since 1992 in Zambia that empowers communities to provide quality basic education to 189,287 learners (93,507 Boys and 95,780 Girls) in 1085 demonstration open community schools across 95 selected districts in all the 10 provinces of Zambia.
The pillars on which ZOCS builds its approach are those of enhanced educational opportunities for children through education policy engagement, increased community capacity to provide such opportunities and ensuring more and better education for more children in communities. ZOCS is about open, accessible schools for disadvantaged children and communities, and these take priority over everything else.
ZOCS is inviting applications for the following position

District Coordinators (Kazungula, Zimba, Sesheke and Nkeyema Districts)
Main Purpose for the Position
The overall aim of the Position is to increase learning opportunities for marginalized children especially girl and children with disabilities. The District Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of all project activities and ensure direct liaison with various key Government Ministries and other partners. The position is also responsible for promoting the Mission and Vision of the Zambia Open Community Schools (ZOCS) Strategic Plan and actively participate in education and development related meetings at district level.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities in Community Schools of Kazungula, Zimba, Sesheke, Mulobezi and Nkeyema District.
• Coordinate meetings with stakeholders (Ministries of General Education, Health, Agriculture, Community Development and Social Welfare)
• Collaborate with the DEBS Office in the design of the Teacher Training Programme in pedagogical skills and use of ICT.
• Ensure teaching and learning materials are procured and distributed to Community Schools
• Managing the project budget in conjunction with Project Manager to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of resources
• Collaborate with the Project Manager in the design and implementation of community sensitisation meetings, trainings for PCSC in School Governance, Management and Accountability, District Advocacy Committee (DAC), Community Action Groups (CAGs).
• Coordinate identification, verification and monitoring of learners and volunteer teachers on the bursary programme
• Collaborating with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team in undertaking need assessments to identify beneficiary needs.
• Produce activity reports and tracking of project deliverables against the set indicators.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications / Professional Experience
Education
• University degree or Advanced Diploma in Education or any other related field

Experience
• At least 5 years of experience in the education sector or development work and management of school/community systems;
• Minimum of 3-year experience in a similar role with advisory responsibilities essential
• Previous stakeholder engagement experience essential
• Project Management experience desirable
• NGO experience desirable
• Riding a motorbike (valid motorbike licence) essential
• Must be a Zambian and resident of the recruiting district.
