JOB DETAILS:
Feedmill Manager
Primary Responsibilities
The Feed Mill Manager shall oversee the procurement of materials, production, quality, maintenance, costs and safety of the companies feed mill.
Keeping inventory of all feed ingredients whilst manufacturing feed requirements as needed and handle internal requirements and reports. Additionally, ensure all employees are trained on safety and continue to stay up-to-date as well as comply with the laid down procedures. Recommend for improvements in standard working procedures, systems and policy.
Other Responsibilities:
• Responsible for reviewing production records
• Scheduling feed production
• Keeping inventory of feed ingredients and ordering as needed
• Testing and reviewing feed/grain quality
• Feed mixing and evaluating nutrition
• Scheduling employee shifts and keeping track of employee time.
• Handling customer questions and complaints
• Evaluating operating procedures, setting quality assurance standards
• Preparing and monitoring monthly, quarterly and yearly budgets
• Maintenance and housekeeping for the facility
• Make feed deliveries as needed i.e., ensuring deadline and targets are met
• Staying up-to-date on new technology and ways to make process improvements
• Training new employees and providing development opportunities, ensuring all employees are trained on safety and continuing to stay up-to-date, and maintaining filling equipment and other equipment needed to perform duties
• Ensure feed is made as per the recommended feed formulas.
Knowledge & Attributes:
• Knowledge in Feed mixing, mills machinery and nutrition
• Must be conversant with all milling equipment and processes
• Knowledge in production and process for production of soya cake
• Must be quality and production oriented
• Conversant with records and reports
• Computer literate, with reporting and data capturing ability
• Quality and productivity focused with employee management experience
• Driven by controlling Costs whilst ensuring effective and efficient operations
Skills:
• Good communication skills
• Ability to walk, stand, kneel, climb ladders and stairs, lift and carry items
• Work indoors and outdoors in an industrial/farm environment, must be okay with heights
• Good customer service skills
• Computer skills – including Excel & Word
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture – Animal Science / Poultry Science
• Feed mill management
• Computer qualification
• Minimum of 5+ years of practical experience in feed production and handling, or a similar position, within the poultry industry.

Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
