JOB DETAILS:
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is one of the largest copper producers in Zambia. It operates underground and open pit mines as well as metallurgical plants with operations located at Nchanga, Konkola, Nkana and Nampundwe. KCM's operations include a state-of-the-art smelter, open pit and underground mines and a refinery. KCM's vision is to leverage minerals and Human Resources to enhance stakeholder value and Zambia's pride. To support this vision KCM will be recruiting experienced and qualified individuals for the following position at the Konkola Mine in Chililabombwe.
General Manager - Technical Services
Job Purpose
The incumbent will manage a large ore resource and be able to implement international best practices and improve mining technical services in a large underground mine environment. .

Job Accountabilities:
• Lead the delivery of the mine's Technical Service functions which covers geology, hydrogeology, mine planning, ventilation, geotechnical, and survey.
• Monitor and evaluate the block models for the mine to ensure optimal resource management and extraction with best practice.
• Produce the required statutory reports on the state of the mine as well as any other legislative requirements.
• Manage the short, medium, long term and life of mine planning including reserve calculations.
• Establish and determine the viability of the mining and processing operations.
• Understanding and maximizing the Business Unit's medium to long term value chain.
• Bringing technical mining projects through to feasibility study stage completion and monitor implementation.

  Requirements:
• Degree in Mining Engineering or Mining Geology with a post graduate qualification in Mining Engineering.
• A post graduate qualification in business or commercial studies will be an advantage.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years post qualification experience in mining operations and technical services of which five (5) years should have been at a senior management level.
• Should have working knowledge of geology, survey, planning; and resource modelling and scheduling software packages and their integration.
• Able to act strategically and innovative.
• Must be a Competent Person in Reserve Calculation as prescribed by any of the major International Reporting Codes such as JORC, SAMREC and NI 43-101.
• Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Registered Engineer
