JOB DETAILS:

JOB PURPOSE
To provide day-to-day support to the ZEMA network infrastructure with a focus on network configurations, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting encompassing LAN/WAN Internet challenges for end-users and ensure that staff has the right tools to operate efficiently and effectively in order to meet existing and future strategic connectivity (link).

Main Duties and Accountabilities (Without Limitation)
• Plans and Implements the Local Area Network (LAN) in order to ensure that the LAN and services available are within the ICT Service Level Agreements margins.
• Troubleshooting LAN and WAN issues reported by users and ICT staff, acting as first-line support for all infrastructure issues
• Suggest technology solutions to improve infrastructure and network on a regular basis
• Provide support in the configuration and installation of the network hardware and software.
• Attend to user service requests regarding hardware, software, and networking and utilize remote access support where applicable.
• Assist in the selection and recommendation of standardized equipment selection. vill. Ensure consistent monitoring of the network performance and ensure that there is full optimization on the network.
• Support in the development; recommendation and documentation of network management plan, policies, procedures, processes, and checklist.
• ix. Development and maintain a program of proactive system administration including but not limited to network device updates, patches and fixes, system enhancement, log monitoring, and system hardening.
• Attributes
• Understands network concepts and designs involving troubleshooting and setting up network MPLS technologies
• Should be conversant with Cisco networking concepts and equipment like switches, routers, and firewalls to troubleshoot, reconfigure or extend the network
• Understands the working of the firewall and is able to change and update policies on the firewall to prevent access to unauthorized content
• Conversant with network monitoring techniques and tools to ensure optimal use of Internet and data links and reports deviations to ICT managers on a periodic basis. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory, and applications. Knowledge of VMware virtualisation and SAN / NAS storage environment
• Knowledge of ITIL service management framework, and change management experience.
• Self-starter, goal-oriented person with demonstrated ability to perform to the highest level, with minimum supervision
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing and possess excellent interpersonal skills and high ethical standards.
• Confidentiality, Integrity, and willingness to work long and awkward hours occasionally.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
• Grade 12 school certificate or its equivalent
• A relevant BSc. Degree in information systems/degree in computer science or its equivalent from a recognized university. An additional postgraduate qualification in GIS and remote sensing-related fields will be an added advantage.
• Must be a member of the ICTAZ body of professionals.
• At least Two (02) Years of relevant professional experience.
