Job Vacancy: Public Relations Intern
Availability: Immediately
The Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) is a statutory body established under the repealed Securities Act, Cap. 354 of the Laws of Zambia and whose existence is continued under the Securities Act, No. 41 of 2016 to regulate and promote the orderly development of the Zambian Capital Markets. SEC is responsible for, inter alia, licensing of financial intermediaries and securities exchanges, the registration of securities such as debt and equity instruments and authorization of collective investments schemes.
The SEC seeks to recruit one (01) qualified person as PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN for a period of three (3) months to enable the Commission to achieve its objectives both in terms of its overall mandate as well as its strategic objectives.

Job Title: Public Relations Intern
Job Purpose:
Manages and coordinates activities of the Public Relations Section and disseminates information on activities and programs of the Securities and Exchange Commission aimed at projecting a positive image of the Commission to the public.
Reporting: The Job holder will report to the Manager- Administration
Key Result Areas and Accountabilities

Key Result Area Principal Accountabilities (Main Duties)
i. Corporate Image Building Develop and implement effective public relations strategies, policies, programs, and practices that promote a positive corporate image of the Commission.
ii. Stakeholder Engagements & Communication Strategy Assist with the development of the Commission’s Stakeholders Engagement & Communication Strategy
Assist with implementation of plans in the above Strategy – champion aspects of the Strategy & propose ideas of best approaches to achieve desired deliverables
iii. Confidentiality Maintains strict confidentiality of and does not disclose pertinent information being used in the investigative process
iv. Dissemination of Information – Media Programs/Advertisements Disseminate decisions and other key information on operations of the Commission to stakeholders using various communication channels.
Cultivate sound relations with the media and nurture vital contacts with media personnel for purposes of effective information dissemination through the media.
Prepare and coordinate media programs including radio and television programs, spot advertisements, public notices, program scripts, news ideas and facilitates and participates in outreach programs.
iv. Publication of Information Develop publications, edit content, and facilitate for publication of Commission Information and Education materials.
v. Any other Duties Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the superior.

Required Competencies/Personal qualities:
• Strong public relations skills
• Strong writing skills and a good command of English
• Good Communication and interpersonal skills
• Good knowledge of the SEC Mandate
• Ability to analyze situations and device plausible PR solutions
• Strong computer skills (Word processing, power point, social media platforms/applications, etc)
• High level of integrity and confidentiality
• Mature and professional demeanor

Qualifications
Minimum Academic/Professional Qualifications:
• A minimum of a degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, or other relevant social science.
• Masters in any relevant field will be an added advantage
• At least seven (3) years post qualifying experience in the field of Public Relations. Public Relations Experience in the Financial sector will be an added advantage.
• Grade 12 School Certificate

Bachelor Degree
