JOB DETAILS:
Duties and responsibilities
• Reviews and implements credit control policy continuously
• Reviews and recommends appropriate credit limits continuously
• Reconciliation of receivables ledger to General Ledger Debtors Control Account monthly
• Computes provision for doubtful debts monthly to be reviewed by the RBC
• Provides key figures during the preparation of financial reports
• Analyses advance receipts monthly
• Reviews cash sales monthly
• Checks debtors’ receipts and supervises processing of payments
• Resolves critical disputes with customers without jeopardizing business relationships
• Does credit vetting and facilitates the opening of new accounts
• Facilitates order booking and raising of invoices
• Liaises with marketing personnel to ensure that sales are maximized while the credit risk is maintained at a minimum level
• Liaises with both internal and external auditors on credit control issues
• Liaises with lawyers on handed over accounts – after consultation with the Regional Business Controller
• Pursues payments from critical customers (by phone, writing and visiting customers)
• Supervises staff assisting in Credit Control in the Region.
• Coordinates cash book functions
• Updates top management on critical accounts and red flags
• Prepares monthly credit control and sales reports
• Perform any other duties as delegated by the Regional Business Controller

Competences, skills and experience
• Degree in Accountancy or other relevant professional qualification such as ACCA/CIMA
• Minimum five years experience in a similar position.
• Self motivated and result oriented

Personality
• Ability to plan
• Ability to effectively supervise other staff
• Ability to prepare and interpret final accounts
