JOB Opportunity
• Zambart is an independent Zambian research organization that was registered with the Zambia Patent and Companies Registration Agency in 2004. Zambart developed from a longstanding research partnership between the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the University of Zambia which began in 1988, and it has become one of Zambia’s leading research groups specializing in Tuberculosis (TB) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
• We facilitate quality interdisciplinary health research on issues of public health importance in Zambia. Over the years, Zambart has expanded its scope to include both qualitative and quantitative studies around TB and HIV as well as other infections and public health issues such as poverty, mental health and more. Results from numerous studies have contributed to policy and practice at both national and global levels.
• Zambart is currently recruiting staff for a new study entitled: “Addressing an unmet need: same day diagnosis of extra-pulmonary TB (TB serositis and meningitis)” (Epi TB study), funded by EDCTP. The study hypothesizes that new diagnostic tools for EPTB (ADA, Expert Ultra and unstimulated IFNγ; IRISA-TB) are feasible for laboratory use, accurate, and cost effective in a TB and HIV endemic setting.
• As a result, the aim of the study is to evaluate the feasibility and comparative diagnostic accuracy of tests for TB serositis in those with suspected TB pleural effusion, TB pericardial effusion and TB.
• To support our wide range of research activities, we are looking for candidates to fill the position of Study Manager – Lusaka.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
• Assist with the design and management of the study activities.
Spearhead the development of all required study tools and documents.
Spearhead the overall recruitment and training of study staff.
Supervise the study teams, including monitoring of progress and performance.
Provide written reports of study activities.
Responsible for day-to-day management of the study
Responsible for providing overall technical leadership and guidance.
Maintain study oversight, ensuring all regulatory standards are adhered to and run in accordance with GCP guidelines.
Work closely with all relevant authorities and stakeholders.
Undertake any other tasks required from time to time.

Essential requirements
• Medical Doctor with MBchB registered with Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
A minimum of 3 years post qualification.
Experience in the delivery of TB/HIV services within the routine national health systems and/or research settings.
Wide experience and knowledge in TB/HIV management as outlined in the WHO and national TB/HIV guidelines.
Working experience in public health with a focus on TB/HIV.
Ability to work independently as well as manage and lead a successful team.
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
Proven-people management ad interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Working closely with Ministry of Health and the stakeholders.
Commitment to fostering the development of research.

Desirable
• Higher degree or MPH will be an added advantage.
• Interpersonal skills to facilitate relations with government entities and local partners implementing TB prevention, care, and control activities.
• Familiar with international developments in TB prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment
• The appointment is for a Two (2) year contract.
