JOB DETAILS:
Purpose Of The Role
As a ROVING HUMANITARIAN & CLIMATE JUSTICE INSPIRATOR for ActionAid Zambia and partners, the key performance roles would include but not limited to:
• Mentor youth networks, groups and movements in advocacy and skills of grassroots and civic engagement in relation to humanitarian & Climate Justice using the (HRBA) and AA Humanitarian Signature.
• Enhance the ability of young people to participate in decision making processes and to actively engage in national, provincial and district projects and ensure that leaders are accountable regarding Humanitarian & Climate Justice.
• Support and design climate related advocacy strategies targeted to National, Regional and Local Level. Support implementation of activities under Disaster Preparedness and Humanitarian Response Unit. Support in mapping out networks, forums, committees at district and National on Disaster women and youth-led emergency preparedness, response,
prevention, and recovery.
• Supporting the development and implementation of communication strategies to raise public awareness and support for humanitarian & climate justice issues. Supporting young people, especially women, in conducting research and analysis to identify the causes and consequences of climate change and its impact on marginalized groups. Identifying and
linking young people to spaces of influence and learning opportunities.

Accountablities
Key Activities
• Provide support in assessing emerging trends and systematic changes that are relevant focusing on humanitarian response, environmental and climate policies, practices, systems, and structures at partner organization and AAZ.
• Support the participation of youth and women in public policy (especially on environment and climate) processes at partner organization and AAZ.
• Support capacity building of youth leadership on leadership, climate justice at partner organization and AAZ.
• Support youth led organizations programming on climate justice and humanitarian emergencies.
• Mentorship of young activists to deliver strong and impactful advocacy initiatives.
• Support the documentation and sharing of campaigns on climate Justice and preparedness disaster management.

Expected Output
• Enhanced capacity and Knowledge on humanitarian & climate justice among Youths.
• Enhanced local movements that links to regional and international movements.
• Stakeholders sensitized on Humanitarian emergencies and Climate Justice.
• Learning and sharing on Humanitarian emergencies and Climate Justice.
• Support capacity building of youth’s leadership, on climate change and justice and sensitizations.
• Support the development of an advocacy and movement building strategy (informed by policy analysis and capacity gap assessment).
• Enhanced programming in Humanitarian emergencies and Climate Justice in AAZ and partners among young people.
• Established linkages at local, district and national collaboration in Humanitarian emergencies and Climate Justice for young people.
• Well organized database of all stakeholders, media and youth led movements, alliances and networks working in humanitarian emergencies and climate justice.

Minimum Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, development studies or any relevant field from a recognized University.
• Have at least 1 – 2 years of experience working in Humanitarian & Climate Justice settings.
• Experience in working effectively on climate justice, emergencies, and natural resource management.

Essential Knowledge & Skill
• Experience in Humanitarian emergencies and Climate Justice advocacy.
• Experience in movement building and networking in emergencies.
• Experience in Policy work: Policy position drafting, legislative advocacy, as well as policy formulation procedures centered on humanitarian emergencies and climate justice.
• Experience in working in rural areas with young people in humanitarian emergencies.
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation or capturing learning stories for projects.
• Demonstrable experience in peer-to-peer learning in humanitarian emergencies.
• Strong analytical skills and good political judgment is desirable, participatory training methods and action research.
• Ability to write concise, analytical, and accurate reports to meet agreed deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and other Local Languages spoken in the Southern, Western and Eastern Provinces.
• Good negotiation/interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with diverse range of people.
• Experience of youth activism and passionate about youth-led activism.
