JOB DETAILS:
Position: Boilermaker
Lumwana Mine, Kalumbila, Zambia.
Reporting to: Shift Supervisor
Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for experienced and qualified individuals to be considered for the position of a Boilermaker.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for quality welding processes across the welding section and the establishing of preventative and responsive maintenance within the maintenance area. Providing these services will ensure the reliability of Barrick equipment which is critical in maintaining production targets of the mine and the safety and wellness of its employees. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: .

Responsibilities
• Ability to do all welding tasks to a high standard
• A good understanding and skill level with all tooling and machinery in the Welding area.
• Must have good experience and ability to perform the following tasks:
• Carbon Arc Gouging
• MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding
• Manual Metal Arc welding all positions.
• A good knowledge of welding procedures.
• Fully responsible for the quality of work.
• Actively participate in identification and implementation of projects that demonstrate working in an environment of continuous improvement.
• Carry out maintenance activities assigned by the supervisor in accordance with the safe work procedures and standard which include JSA’s, FLRA, Hazard identification and SOP’s.
• Verify conformance of work piece to operational specifications. • Fully responsible for the quality of work.

• Execute function to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and trade standards.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area both during and after completing a job/task

Experience & Qualifications
• Holder of a Craft Certificate in Boiler making/ welding or Fabrication.
• Able to pass pre-employment medical.
• Extensive experience in maintenance of fixed plant machinery, and associated infrastructure complete with Mechanical industry qualifications.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience preferably in the mining industry or a mineral processing industry role.
• Able to read, understand and reference maintenance manuals.
• A member of Engineering Institute of Zambia.
• Able to clearly demonstrate the aptitude to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Zambian drivers licence or be able to obtain one.
