JOB DETAILS:
Mopani Copper Mines Plc has operations in Mufulira and Kitwe on the Copperbelt Province in Zambia. The Company seeks the services of a Senior Planning Engineer X 1
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing production targets for development, long hole drilling and stopping for both short and long term at lower costs by monitoring performance and taking remedial action by applying short interval control measures where performance is lagging behind.

The responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to the following:
• Prepare short and long term production plans in order to maintain economical and efficient underground operations
• Coordinate all short and long term mine-planning activities in compliance with Mining Standards
• Generate mine pians using Surpac design software
• Run production schedules using Surpac-Mine Scheduler
• Control of costs
• Ensure all designs generated in the area of responsibility conform to the safety, health and environmental requirements obtaining in mining industry
• Enforce Statutory Mining Regulations and domestic rules in order to provide a safe working environment
• Prepare 1 to 3 years development & production schedules for budgeting

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Minimum 2 years’ underground work experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in mine planning as Senior Assistant Planning Engineer
• Registered member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EZ)
• Knowledge of Surpac 30 mining software and also Surpac MineSched
• Knowledge in AutoCAD will be an added advantage.

The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company Policies and Corporate Objectives
