JOB DETAILS:
Yalelo is seeking a highly analytical, meticulous and hands-on Automotive Mechanic with extensive experience to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Marine Engines, both diesel and Petrol engines, heavy-duty mobile equipment, Gensets, and motor Vehicles.
This position is open to Zambians only.
Location: The role will be primarily based at the Yalelo farm in Siavonga but may require occasional travel to Lusaka. .

  Responsibilities:
• Receive job request/instruction from the supervisor with all detailed instructions to handle the preventive maintenance or breakdown
• On the breakdown of any mobile equipment Inspect the machine and diagnoses faults, cause of the same and identifies materials required to do the job.
• Carry out planned repair works on the mobile plant as per plans produced in the section and in conformity with equipment specifications and standard instructions.
• Test all completed work to determine the quality of workmanship and handover to users upon the satisfactory test.
• Complete maintenance checklists/breakdown reports and handover the same to the mechanical supervisor upon completion of works.
• Ensure Safety is adequate in the area where he/she is working.
• Ensure has correct PPE before undertaking any work.
• Ensure safe storage of replaced parts that are re-usable.
• Ensure the workplace is left clean free of scrap, oil, and debris.
• Handle breakdowns without any instructions given by the supervisor on what or how to diagnose or troubleshoot on the machine.
• Handle unplanned major breakdowns without spares by means of modifications to standard in which the machine is able to work.
• Identify spares by use of service and parts manuals with the use of Fiix.
• Lead others involved in maintenance tasks.
• Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Be called upon to assist in the preparation of capital and operating budgets.
Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts and supplies.
• Maintain maintenance and repair logs and records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

  Technical Skills/Competencies
• Knowledge of work and safety rules & regulations
• Local Statutory Safety and Environment regulations and procedures
• Problem-solving methods and tools (Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Risk Analysis (FMEA)).
• Strong computer knowledge, Fiix or CMMS, Microsoft Project, Excel & PowerPoint
• Strong technical knowledge of maintenance operations
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration, Marine Engines, and HMEs
• Knowledge in Electricity/Mechanical /PLCs/ (Control Systems) and Instrumentation/Electronics
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance schedules and programs on plant mobile equipment and Marine Engines
• Carries out fault finding by using precision measuring and testing instruments
• Knowledge of mobile Equipmentinspection procédures
• Knowledge of records keeping on plant mobile equipment
• Experience on HME Caterpillar, JCB, John Deer models
• Trained on diagnostic tools such as Caterpillar ET
• Experience with DAF and Mercedes Benz Engines
