Project Overview
Pact Zambia is currently providing Technical Assistance to the Centre for Infectious Diseases Research in Zambia who are implementing the USAID Controlling HIV Epidemic for Key and Underserved Populations (CHEKUP I) project which is a five-year project. The program’s purpose is to enhance Zambians’ health by preventing new HIV infections in priority and critical populations, such as teenage girls and young women, adolescent boys and young men, individuals living with HIV, mobile populations, discordant couples, and key populations. The project takes a targeted evidence-based approach, maximizing the impact of USAID resources by focusing on where the greatest gains can be achieved: in high prevalence districts, especially those that are densely populated; targeting population groups that are at high risk of becoming infected or infecting others; and by tailoring approaches to different segments of the population to address key drivers of the epidemic.
Pact Zambia, USAID CHEKUP I, is seeking proposals from organizations and/or firms to design and conduct STATA training. The consultant primary expertise required: substantive expertise in managing surveys. Experience in education project monitoring and evaluation or survey management; Excellent computer and other IT skills, good command of statistical application such as STATA and SPSS. A recognized institutional member of the national monitoring and evaluation association

The Main objective and responsibility of the consultancy:
The services of a Consulting Firm shall be contracted to design and conduct a STATA training to the M&E staffs of pact Zambia on the CHEKUP I project in data analysis using STATA software;
The specific objective of the STATA Training are;
1. To strengthening the skills of the M&E team on how STATA can be using in analyzing data from DHIS2 to generate descriptive statistics, as well as carry out multiple linear regression and correlation analysis of those data. In particular, the consultancy should train the M&E team in the following methods:
• basic file management and simple data analysis such as opening, reading files, combining and modifying data, and saving files,
• documenting data files with variable labels and value labels
• generating new variables using various functions and operations
• creating tables to describe the distribution of continuous and discrete variables
• creating tables to describe the relationships between two or more variables
• using regression and correlation analysis to study the impact of a variables on another variable
• testing hypotheses using statistical methods

Deliverables:
A. The consultant will deliver the following key deliverables to be submitted one week prior to commencement of the training:
1. Detailed activity level budget plan for the STATA training for 20 people;
2. Training schedule
B. The consultant will deliver the following key deliverable on day one of the training:
1. STATA licensed software for the participants
C. The consultant will deliver the following key deliverables two weeks after the training:
1. The final training report.
2. Institutional branded certificates for the participants

Specific tasks:
The consultant will deliver the following task during the training:
1. Develop sample survey questionnaire for the training demos
2. Create the dataset together with the participants using the sample questionnaire
3. Demonstrate the data entry into the dataset using some filled in questionnaires
4. Demonstrate the data cleaning using the dataset
5. Create the data analysis plan and analysis output
6. Demonstrate the data analysis using STATA

Educational background and Work experience:
1. Master’s degree in statistics or other social sciences disciplines such population studies, demography, public health or monitoring and evaluation from a recognized university.
2. A doctorate (Ph.D.) in the qualifications above will be an added advantage
3. At least 5 years of professional experience in STATA trainings with a strong experience in applied statistical theory and techniques to design, plan and manage data collection and processing efforts for large scale surveys using STATA.
4. Good facilitation skills and excellent writing skills in English;

To achieve this, the project strengthens the adaptive capacity of agricultural and energy systems as well as the promotion of climate smart (CS) diversification practices and productive use of renewable energy.
As the project aims to address the major challenge/s of climate change that farmers, agribusinesses and SMEs are facing using a value chain approach, the project intends to set up irrigation schemes in 12 demo plots. These demo plots are already established Increase models that were set up in 2021 during the rainy season, but will need further irrigation during the dry season to ensure the crops get established as well as assist farmers to grow winter crops.
The irrigation schemes shall be developed and implemented in three (3) provinces and eight (8) district/locations.
