Your mission:
In this role you will have the challenge to:
• Build an initial technical team of software developers.
• Establish a curriculum of a 4 month boot camp for high school graduates to become successful Full Stack Developers.
• Teach together with your initial team a first cohort of high school graduates.
• Manage IT development assignments for clients globally. Doing projects for clients is the first step in our discovery process for ideas of incubation.
• Select key talent from the boot camps and let them work on new ideas & coach them technically to build MVPs (minimum Viable Products).

Skills:
You are a strong leader with:
• Deep knowledge in software engineering
• In-depth knowledge of web platforms and ecosystems
• Expertise in frameworks such as React, NodeJs, Javascript or in Java, Go, Python or PHP
• You have know-how of DevOps and how to manage cloud instances with docker, kubernetes etc.

You stand out if:

• Have previous experience as a CTO at a start-up before.
• Have taught engineering classes before to students in Software engineering

Background:
Akros supports multiple governments to use geospatial technology to plan and implement health services including health surveillance, response and analytics. We require a geospatial technologist to support our geographic information system (GIS) and spatial intelligence work. This is a remote position, with periodic travel to support deployments. You will work closely with our program teams (based across Africa), as well as our software development team (based in South Africa).

Job description:
The geospatial technologist will provide specific support to geoenable health campaign microplanning and intervention delivery processes working with both the Akros team, as well as country stakeholders we support. The technologist will also support digitization and enumeration work, both development of end products for use in health service planning, but also training country-based teams necessary skills to deliver these products.

Key responsibilities:
• Produce data layers from satellite and other earth observation products
• Work with and manage large databases of spatial data at project, regional and global scales
• QC (vectors and raster data) and compilation of datasets from vector and raster inputs.
• Conduct GIS technical capacity building for Akros personnel and our counterparts
• Assist with GIS related database configuration for various health information systems including DHIS2 and Reveal (www.revealprecision.com)

Requirements:
• Masters in Geoinformatics / GIS, alternatively 5+ years of moderate to advanced geospatial analytical work experience
• Good foundation knowledge and understanding of remote sensing and GIS concepts
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
• Exceptional communication skills (including presentations) in written and spoken English.
• Experience in using QGIS and ArcGIS
• Self-motivated and a strong problem solver

Term and Location
This position is a remote position with occasional travel on an as needed basis.

JOB DETAILS:
Scope of Work – IT Consultant/Independent Contractor Professional Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all areas of computer system administration and management of Windows desktop environments for ChildFund’s desktop infrastructure, including responsibility for installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, technical support, security updates, and resolving customer related software and hardware problems in accordance with established policies and procedures. The incumbent is also responsible for diagnosing and/or resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents via trouble tickets; escalating problems to management as appropriate; overseeing Help Desk activities; and configuring devices and software applications following established procedures. Provides account management support, client connectivity support and client application support for supported devices; and remains current with changing Information Technologies.

DELIVERABLES
• Provides desktop support to end-users, responding in timely manner to user request for assistance, installation;
• Coordinates hardware / software installations and upgrades to ensure work is properly performed with as little disruption to staff as possible;
• Participates in new software testing and deployment as needed;
• Maintains PC inventory and replacement schedules;
• Maintains patches and antivirus for end users’ systems;
• Ensures resolution with equipment and software technical issues;
• Participates in educational opportunities to maintain relevance in the field of Information Technology;
• Participates in projects and performs other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• 1-3 years working experience in desktop support;
• Conversant with working in a Microsoft Windows environment; Windows XP7810, Microsoft Office, Crystal reports, Oracle, WSUS, Acronis;
• Self-starter with desire and ability to learn new skills;
• Good communications skills, technical aptitude, detail oriented;
• Customer service focus;
• Ability to work unsupervised and a high degree of dependability required;
• Ability to work well with colleagues as a team member.
• Experience with Apple devices a plus

Required/Desired Foreign Language
• English language required with ability to read, write, and understand.
• The Knowledge of French, Spanish or Portuguese will be an added advantage to this position.;

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
• Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related discipline. Equivalent relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

• CompTIA A+ preferred

DURATION
This Agreement will be for a fixed period of 12 months, the beginning and end date will be specified in the agreement to be signed.
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
This IT Consultant is accountable for meeting the Scope of Work objectives mentioned above and will have a working relationship with and will directly report on a weekly basis to the Manager Sr, IT GSS.
