JOB DETAILS:
• The successful candidate will be reporting to the Clerk in Charge of the Station and some of the responsibilities will include the following:
• Undertaking timely production and compilation of court returns in order to facilitate development of appropriate interventions
• Preparing timely books of accounts for the Local Court for submission to the supervising officer
• Recording cases in the Local Court.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Full Form V or Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with Five (5)
• 'O' levels Credit or better including English.
• Related professional skills is an added advantage.
• Able to communicate effectively in English and any local languages.

Purpose
Oversees the development and coordination of office processes by ensuring optimal effectiveness of legal support.

Responsibilities
• To be legal support for FQM entities in Zambia (the “Companies”).
• To coordinate with the Compliance Officer in ensuring that the Companies are fully compliant with all legislation and mining regulations.
• To review existing and new legislation/statutory instruments and advise of changes that affect the Companies’ operations.
• To coordinate and manage the Companies’ external counsel and oversee litigation.
• To facilitate the payment of legal expenses.
• To work with Contract Officers in drafting contracts.
• To draft conveyancing documents and facilitate registration with the Ministry of Lands.
• To draft, negotiate, review and approve various agreements to which the companies are party.
• To negotiate and draft Recognition Agreements and Collective Bargaining Agreements with unions as well as attend to their subsequent registration with the Ministry of Labour.
• To provide legal opinions/ legal advice to various internal stakeholders of the companies.
• To ensure that original contracts are securely kept and maintained within the department.
• To prepare litigation reports.
• Any other duties and tasks assigned by senior management.

Qualifications and Experience
• Grade 12 Certificate
• LLB Degree
• Current Practicing Certificate
• LLM will be an added advantage
• Intermediate to advance computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Valid driver’s license.

Skills Required for the Job
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modelling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to resolve day-to-day challenges relating to legal compliance.
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other programs utilized for training and tracking purposes.
• Detail oriented and ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing legal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
