Overview
Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is a nationally registered NGO working with development projects in the fields of education, health, agriculture and other poverty alleviation programmes. Projects are carried out in all the provinces of Zambia reaching over 1 million people. Key funding partners include the Government of Zambia, national and international development organisations (USAID, EU, Global Fund, WFP and more) as well as private sector organisations.
DAPP in Zambia is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of a Driver.
The position will be based at DAPP Head office, Ndola.

1. Duties and essential job functions
• Conversant with the operations mechanism of light vehicles and passenger buses; and ensuring that they are in road worthy condition, perfect state of cleanliness, insured and with valid road tax, etc., before they are used; and driven on official duties.
• Has experience in mechanics to repair different types of vehicles when need arises; away and at work place.
• Strictly observes all Road Signage and Traffic rules and laws at all times
• Performs routine checks of oil, fuel, battery, and clutch fluid and water levels in the radiator of all company vehicles before embarking on a trip and be able to advise users accordingly.
• Ensures that all motor vehicle tools and accessories are (e.g. spare wheel, Jack, spanners, triangles, fire extinguishers, first aid box etc.) are in place and in good working condition, at the beginning and end of each day
• Ensures that the assigned vehicle is kept clean at all times by washing both the interior and exterior parts of the vehicle.
• Reports any mechanical/electrical fault/maintenance requirements to the supervisor for timely rectification of the fault(s)
• Ensures that the assigned vehicle is serviced within schedule by reporting the mileage to the supervisor on time
• Ensures that passengers take safety precautions, such as wearing of safety belts, before any journey begins
• Ensures that every journey and fuelling/refuelling are recorded in the Motor Vehicle Log Book and signed off
• Delivers materials and personnel to instructed destinations, ensuring safety at all times
• Ensures security of the vehicle at all times and that the vehicle is parked only in a secured place when not in use
• Conducts a weekly checklist of vehicle condition and submits to supervisor for review
• Takes staff each morning and taking them back after working hours to some designated stations/places
• Reports any instance of mishap or accident to the supervisor for timely action
• Performs routine office errands as assigned by superiors in consultation with Fleet management.

2. Qualifications
• Completion of Grade 12 level of Education
• PSV Drivers’ licence with mechanical experience
• Valid Police Clearance Report
• 5 years’ experience working as a driver/ mechanic preferably in a Non- Governmental Organisation
• Experience in providing administrative assistance to a development project
• Excellent knowledge of traffic rules and road laws of Zambia.
• Basic computer knowledge will be an added advantage

Job Role
Provides quality service to passenger in respect to check-in, boarding, special services, lounges, airport hotel and baggage services as per company’s commercial and safety standards and procedures ensuring passenger and their baggage are handled in a consistent and efficient manner. Ensure Premium Passengers receive total quality service and staffs adhere to safety policy and security standards of the company.

Accountabilities
• Acts as the first contact between the Airline and its customers as well as all stake holders and agents who may need assistance with questions, portray QR image to the highest standards.
• Ensure that airport operation meets QR’s standards; policies and procedures satisfy local and international safety and security standards and conform to aviation regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all areas of operations, i.e. flight OPS (OTP), WBL, aircraft loading, baggage handling, departure, arrival, cargo handling run smoothly and efficiently.
• Monitors all Gate and Check in activities ensuring the accurate, service oriented acceptance and boarding of passengers.
• Ensure smooth handling of Customer service at the station.
• Liaises with ramp and GHA staff and support Airport Services Supervisors in all areas.
• Perform the Aircraft Turnaround Check (ATC) duty as assigned by the ASM to ensure safe operation of QR ground ramp product.
• Operate aircraft cabin service doors from the outside where applicable to facilitate and reduce the associated safety risk of inadvertent slide deployment.
• Escorting and directing Arriving/Departing passengers to the respective areas such as Hotel Desk, Visa Counter, Transfer Desk, Premium Lounges, and Boarding Gates.
• Assists Duty Officer to handle company material and records.
• Brief GHA on new procedures and ensure that they are implemented accurately and fully.
• Ensure required pre and post flight administration in conducted timely, record accurately all flight activities.
• Handle administrative issues related to monthly/quarterly reports. Ensure requests on operational service failure matters are responded to immediately with a high degree of accuracy and correctness.
• Work with GHA and ensure all training records of their dedicated/assigned staff to QR are up to date.
• Assist Passengers in regard to Entry Requirements, Visas, and Residence Permits. Carry out general profiling of passengers on need basis.
• Carry out any verification as and when required to protect revenue and image of company by referring to relevant policy and procedure.
• Ensure utmost priority is given to all security and safety related norms laid down by company, local authorities and relevant procedure is implemented/executed through GHA staff.
• Ensure passengers are assisted smoothly through airport facilities.
• Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
• Relevant Vocational, Tertiary or Trade qualification
• Courses in Passenger Handling and Customer Services such as introduction to Civil Aviation and Passenger Handling.
• 3 years relevant experience
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to effectively manage mishandled baggage services, including service recovery situations with customers.
• Must have legal rights to live and work in Zambia

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver packages and goods as assigned by various departments
• Facilitate visiting World Vision staff/visitors to hotels/office/field/Airport transfers

• Prepare vehicle performance report and submit to Transport office timely
• Drivers should ensure high standards of cleanliness and tidiness both inside and outside motor vehicles under their custody all the time.
• Report all accidents and defects on motor vehicles so that they can be attended to on time by the Transport Officer.
• Monitor and ensure that the status of motor vehicles e.g engine oil, water, brake fluid and tyre condition etc are in good state before using the motor vehicle
• Drivers should familiarize themselves with transport policy
• Attend and participate in weekly chapel and daily devotional meetings
• Attend to any other duties which might be assigned by the transport officer

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
• Education: Grade 12 standard of education
• Experience: 3 – 5 years working experince
• Must have a valid Zambian driving Licence
• Good skill in human relationship
• Must have a thorough knowledge of the road safety rules and regulations
• Good knowledge of car mechanics, with a certificate in car maintenance is an added advantage
• Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Ability to prioritize work and need for urgency
