About the Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant – Taxation, you will play a key role in ensuring all tax returns are accurately prepared and submitted on time, maintaining thorough records of tax documentation, and assisting with month-end and year-end financial closures. Your role will also involve reconciling general ledgers, coordinating audits, and supporting customs payment processes to ensure timely compliance.
You will be instrumental in identifying control improvements and risk mitigation strategies, staying updated on tax legislation and technical matters, and assisting with correspondence for company stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Finance and Supply Chain teams to ensure tax compliance across business transactions.
Key Responsibilities for Accountant Taxation Jobs in Kalumbila
- Prepare and submit accurate tax returns with supporting documentation on schedule.
- Maintain organized records of all tax-related files and documents.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes and ledger reconciliations.
- Assist in coordinating internal and external audits.
- Manage tax agent appointments and oversee tax invoice processes to reduce Reverse VAT exposure.
- Review customs entries, prepare payment schedules, and ensure timely customs payments.
- Identify key controls and efficiency improvements to mitigate financial risks.
- Keep abreast of tax law changes and prepare relevant company correspondence.
- Provide tax compliance support to Finance and Supply Chain departments.
Candidate Requirements
- Full Grade 12 certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, ZICA, or CIMA is advantageous.
- Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants is required.
- At least three years of experience in a similar accounting or taxation role.
- Proven track record of delivering results and driving change.
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite applications.
