Job Summary:
Forest Park Specialized Hospital is looking for a highly skilled Air Conditioner Specialist to maintain, diagnose, and repair our critical HVAC systems. In a hospital environment, air quality and temperature control are vital for patient comfort, infection control, and the operation of sensitive medical equipment. The ideal candidate must be proficient in handling various types of cooling systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning units, chillers, HVAC pumps, ventilation systems, and refrigerators.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on split AC units, centralized AC plants, and exhaust fans.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using testing equipment.
- Monitor and maintain precise temperature and humidity levels in critical areas such as Operating Theaters (OTs), ICUs, and laboratories.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns immediately to restore cooling in patient care areas.
- Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, refrigerant usage, and equipment performance.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding refrigerant handling and disposal.
- Collaborate with the infection control team to ensure air handling units (AHUs) and filters are changed and cleaned according to schedule.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an HVAC Technician or AC Specialist.
- Certification: Relevant trade certification or diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. Certification in handling hazardous refrigerants is required.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of electrical circuits, refrigeration cycles, and psychometrics. Ability to read wiring diagrams.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces, lift heavy equipment, and work on rooftops or ladders.
- Compliance: Must pass a background check and health screening.
