Job Purpose
The Applications Development Manager will be responsible for investigating business solutions, identifying, and evaluating options for improving business systems, design, develop, and implement IT business solutions and ensuring the effective use of information systems in meeting the needs of the organization.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and synthesize business requirements and convert the requirements to IT business solutions.
- Develop or recommend solutions using a variety of techniques to meet the requirements of business.
- Collaborate closely with Business Analysts to implement requirements and provide necessary guidance to testers during QA process.
- Produce clearly documented code to facilitate solution maintenance.
- Successfully produce error (bug) free IT Business Solutions
- Review and validate each deliverable in the detailed system design document with unit testing to ensure that each component of the system executes properly without bugs.
- Document all discovered and reported bugs.
- Identify and recommend platforms for application deployment.
- Ensure applications are deployed as per System Architecture and best practice
- Collaborate with Group IT to develop applications that align with the Group/organization’s goals, as well as customer needs.
- Manage relationships with service providers.
- In collaboration with IT Security, conduct regular security checks and provide solutions to security threats, viruses, or errors that might hinder the performance of applications.
- Perform necessary bug fixes, updates and upgrades on applications in line with application lifecycles and change management
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvements.
- Develop and implement new technologies and processes

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Information Technology / Information Systems or Computer Sciences
- Must have a minimum of 4+ years IT developer experience using a combination of technologies (.Net – C#, Angular, Java, CSS, PHP, Web API 2.0, Entity Framework, LINQ, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML 5, CSS 3, Bootstrap, JQX Widgets, developing databases using SQL and MySQL and 5 years or more years in IT business/NGO Industry
- Must have held a same or similar position within the NGO sector
- Experience with client-side JavaScript frameworks, ideally one or more of Ember, Angular, React, Node, Backbone, JQuery or similar.
- Proven Server-side development experience, ideally with Ruby on Rails, Phoenix, Python, PHP or similar OOO and functional languages.
- Relational database development experience, ideally SQL and MySQL with some NoSQL.
- Proven Mobile and responsive development experience, either web or native.
- Must have some experience with hybrid mobile development and deployment wrappers like Cordova, Ionic or similar
- Proven experience with WebSocket and RESTful, JSON or similar APIs.
