About the Artisan Plumber Role
This full-time position is based at Kansanshi Mining Plc within our Facilities & Services Department, specifically the Maintenance Section. Reporting to the Team Leader Plumbing, the Artisan Plumber will perform essential plumbing maintenance and installation tasks with a focus on safety, quality workmanship, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities for Artisan Plumber Jobs in Solwezi
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on water supply, drainage, and sewer systems.
- Complete work orders accurately and provide timely feedback to the Team Leader.
- Ensure proper use and upkeep of plumbing tools and materials.
- Provide material quantity estimates for maintenance and rehabilitation projects for verification.
- Support the Team Leader and collaborate with assistants to meet deadlines and maintain high standards.
- Contribute to the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures and Job Risk Assessments.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist in training and mentoring Plumbing Assistants to build team capability.
- Uphold a positive work culture and take initiative in task execution during Team Leader absences.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or team leaders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certified ZAQA Grade 12 Certificate.
- Craft Certificate in Plumbing or equivalent; alternatively, a minimum of five years hands-on plumbing experience is advantageous.
- Valid Zambian Trades Test certificate is a plus.
- Membership in the Plumbers Association of Zambia (PAZA) is desirable.
- Two to three years of practical experience in plumbing maintenance and installation, including water supply and sewerage systems.
- Experience leading small teams and coordinating task execution is beneficial.
Behavioural and Operational Requirements
- Strong accountability and ownership of assigned tasks.
- Promotes teamwork, respect, and a cohesive work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Proactive approach with a high regard for safety and compliance.
- Physically fit to perform fieldwork in a mining environment.
- Willingness to respond to emergencies outside normal hours, including weekends.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, safe work permits, and conducting Job Risk Assessments.
