Juba Transport Limited requires the services of a qualified person to fill the position of Assistant Transport & Logistics Manager responsible for the transportation of dry cargo locally and internationally withing the SADC region.
Job Purpose
Responsible for supporting the Transport Manager in overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of cargo shipments from pick-up points to the end-user. Also responsible for managing logistics and ensuring that transportation of cargo is handled efficiently, safely, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
- Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles.
- Monitor and report on transportation costs
- Ensure shipping documents are properly filed
- Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
- Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods
- Organize training sessions for drivers, and support staff (e.g. proper use of equipment and handling of hazardous material etc)
- Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
- Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation
- Stay up-to-date with safety regulations
Qualification and Requirements:
- 3 – 5 years proven work experience as an Assistant Transportation Manager or a similar role
- Grade 12 School Certificate
- A degree in Mathematics or Engineering plus CILT diploma or degree
- Solid knowledge of supply chain management
- Experience in preparing and tracking orders
- Familiarity with transport & logistics software like Mix telematics or Geotab
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to supervise and train staff
- Problem-solving abilities
