Background
Forest Park Specialized Hospital is looking for an experienced Bricklayer to maintain and repair the structural integrity and aesthetic appearance of the hospital’s exterior and interior masonry. The successful candidate will handle brick, block, and stone work, ensuring all structures are safe, durable, and meet healthcare facility standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, and walkways.
- Read and interpret blueprints or work orders to determine materials and dimensions required.
- Mix mortar and grout to specified consistency and apply it to foundations or existing structures.
- Repair and repoint deteriorating mortar joints in existing buildings to prevent water damage and structural issues.
- Install fireproofing materials and ensure all masonry work meets fire code regulations specific to healthcare facilities.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure work does not interfere with hospital operations or emergency access routes.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment; ensure the safe storage of materials.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper scaffolding setup.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a bricklayer or mason.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in troweling, leveling, and aligning. Knowledge of different types of blocks, bricks, and cement compounds.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs), bending, kneeling, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Safety: Comprehensive understanding of construction site safety and hospital safety zones.
- Compliance: Must pass a background check and physical examination.
