Description
Our client, an established multinational in the financial sector is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to lead the financial strategy and operations across three segments of the brand’s operations, i.e the holding Company and two Subsidiaries.
The CFO will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the three segments including obligation for accounting, finance, treasury, forecasting, strategic planning, budgeting, investor relationships, compliance and private and institutional financing. This executive role demands a strategic thinker, expert communicator, and experienced leader dedicated to driving sustainable growth and financial excellence.Vehicle Codes & Driving Laws
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead in formulation of financial and tax strategies and policies and ensure sound financial controls and compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.
- Oversee the monitoring and disbursement of fund to meet current or long term corporate objectives, capital request and corporate financing.
- Develop organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; accumulating capital to fund expansion.
- Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; and minimizing the impact of variances.
- Maximize return on invested funds and achieve investment yield as may be agreed by the Board by identifying investment opportunities; maintaining relationships with the investment community.
- Assess and interprets financial and investment information and oversee the development of financial models and activity-based financial analysis to provide a basis for investment decisions and business planning
- Manage financial and physical resources and recommends yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manage the Company’s resources within those budget guidelines and regulations.
- Contribute to the achievement of Expense Ratio, ROC, Solvency and overall management expense within approved budget. Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
- Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organisation are met including Withholding Payments, Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Insurance Premium Level and others.
- Put in place measures to hedge against foreign exchange risks and interest rates exposures
- Review financial transactions to monitor compliance with established internal policies and external regulatory requirements and evaluate risk exposure
- Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems and implement operational best practices.
- Supervise the issuance of financial information and report financial results to the Board of directors and other relevant stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relations with external auditor, investigate their findings and implement recommendations.
- Arranging debt and equity financing as well as monitoring cash balances and cash forecasts.
- Supervise issuance of Balance Sheet Management Report – Asset-Liability Matching Balance Sheet; Duration; Currency and Credit. Solvency–Balance Sheet; Capital Management
- Oversee strategy and operational issues at assigned Support Units to ensure achievement of organisational goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- CPA, ACCA, CIMA are essential for this role.
- Masters in Business Administration or Accounting is preferred
- At least 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including at least 4 years at CFO level or equivalent roles.
- Membership with Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is required
- Sound knowledge in Portfolio Management
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Good working knowledge of the Long-term / Short-term Insurance Act
- Good understanding of tax principles applicable to Insurance Companies
- Detailed knowledge of the relevant accounting standard, specifically for Insurance Companies
- Knowledge of Zambia Company Act and financial Reporting Standards
- Sound knowledge of IFRS reporting standards
- A transformational leader with good financial and strategic planning skills
- Ability to improve processes and deal with complex issues
- Should be creative and have the ability to exercise sound judgment
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
- Should be result-oriented with a can do attitude.
