Our client in Lusaka, is looking for a Commercial Manager to join their team for a job vacancy within the logistics industry.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Commercial Manager to lead our sales, marketing, and business development functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, developing strategic client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities within the logistics and supply chain sector.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across key market segments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Lead contract negotiations and ensure successful closure of commercial agreements.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver commercial proposals, presentations, and tenders.

Marketing

  • Develop and execute marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility and market presence.
  • Support the development of promotional campaigns and customer engagement strategies.
  • Conduct market research and provide insights to support business growth.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Address customer concerns and develop solutions to improve service delivery.
  • Foster long-term strategic partnerships with key accounts.

Commercial Management

  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reports.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance against targets.
  • Collaborate with operations and finance teams to ensure profitable service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and industry regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications in Sales, Marketing, or Logistics will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in Sales, Marketing, and Business Development, preferably within the logistics, transport, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales and revenue targets.
  • Experience managing key accounts and developing strategic business partnerships.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong business development and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and commercial acumen.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and develop effective growth strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Additional Requirement

  • Demonstrated knowledge of transportation, handling, and regulatory requirements for different types of products, including hazardous, perishable, pharmaceutical, and general cargo.
  • Strong understanding of product classification, packaging, marking, and labeling requirements in accordance with local and international transportation regulations.
  • Familiarity with logistics compliance standards and documentation requirements for the safe and efficient movement of goods across various transport modes.
  • Previous experience working for a freight clearing and forwarding company will be an added advantage.
