ZCAS University invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and results-oriented individuals for the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor – Research, Consultancy & Innovation.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Research, Consultancy & Innovation will provide strategic leadership for the University's research, consultancy, and innovation agenda. The role is responsible for promoting knowledge creation, research commercialization, strategic partnerships, and strengthening the University's contribution to national development and global competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of research, consultancy, and innovation activities across the University.
- Develop and implement policies, strategies, and frameworks that promote high-quality research and innovation.
- Monitor implementation of the University's Strategic Plan relating to research, consultancy, innovation, and research grant mobilization.
- Lead the identification and acquisition of local and international research funding and consultancy opportunities.
- Promote commercialization of research outputs and intellectual property development.
- Establish and strengthen partnerships with industry, government, research institutions, and international organizations.
- Oversee postgraduate research programmes and ensure the quality and relevance of research outputs.
- Coordinate the dissemination of research findings through publications, conferences, and other scholarly platforms.
- Facilitate the development, negotiation, and implementation of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with strategic partners.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must possess:
- Grade 12 School Certificate (or equivalent) with at least five (5) credits, including English and Mathematics.
- An earned PhD or DBA, together with aligned Master's and Bachelor's Degrees.
- Appointment at the rank of Senior Lecturer or above.
- Associate Professorship or higher will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in academia or research.
- At least 3 years' senior management experience at the level of Dean, Faculty Dean, Director, or equivalent within a university or comparable institution.
- Demonstrated record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Proven success in research grant acquisition and consultancy management.
- Experience developing strategic partnerships at national and international levels.
- Membership with a relevant professional body.

Terms of Appointment
- Contract Duration: Initial term of four (4) years.
