Kamimbi Aqua Feed Limited invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of MAINTENANCE MANAGER (X01)

Responsibilities or duties

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage all plant maintenance activities, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utility systems.
  • Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency of all production equipment and assets.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Oversee breakdown maintenance and ensure minimal production downtime through rapid response systems.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities in alignment with production requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the maintenance team to achieve high performance and technical competence.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, cost controls, and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Oversee spare parts management, inventory control, and procurement planning.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and regulations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including lean maintenance and reliability engineering practices.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and upgrading of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, reports, and equipment history records.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as downtime, mean time between failures (MTBF), and maintenance costs.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and procurement teams to support operational efficiency.
  • Manage and supervise contractors, service providers, and third-party technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory inspections, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Lead emergency response and risk mitigation for plant-related incidents.
  • Support audits (internal and external) and implement audit recommendations.
  • Drive energy efficiency and cost-saving initiatives across plant operations.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Proven experience in managing maintenance teams and factory operations.
  • Strong knowledge of plant equipment, automation systems, and utilities.
  • Experience with maintenance planning systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • High level of accountability and attention to detail
  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Results must be certified by ZAQA.

Experience needed

  • Minimum 8+ years’ experiencein a manufacturing environment (feed mill experience is an added advantage).
