About First Quantum Minerals and the Role

The Geology Manager will report directly to the Mine Technical Manager and serve as a vital member of the senior management team. Key Responsibilities for Geology Manager Jobs in Solwezi
- Champion a THINK safety culture across all geology operations.
- Manage and report on key mining geology performance indicators, including resource assessment, budgeting, data quality, and governance compliance.
- Oversee geology modelling, block model estimation, and the conversion of resources to reserves aligned with mine planning.
- Lead ore control, reconciliation, and mining geology cost management.
- Collaborate with management to develop and execute operational plans effectively.
- Mentor and train the geology team, fostering technical growth and professional development.
- Drive initiatives to reduce ore dilution and loss, enhancing operational efficiency.
- Integrate geology with blasting, mining, and processing functions for continuous improvement.
- Identify and develop near-mine mineral resource opportunities and spearhead technical innovation.
Qualifications and Experience
- A tertiary qualification in geoscience from a recognized institution.
- Membership in a Recognized Professional Organisation (ROPO) compliant with NI43-101 standards.
- Preferred: Qualification in Business Management or Leadership.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior production role.
- Proven expertise in geological data collection, database management, modelling, geostatistics, ore control, reconciliation, and planning.
- Proficiency with mining software such as Datamine, Leapfrog, Snowden Supervisor, Surpac, or equivalent is advantageous.

- Strong leadership capabilities to motivate teams, set goals, and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate trends and plan long-term.
