Forest Park Specialized Hospital is seeking a skilled and meticulous Painter to join our Facilities team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation, painting, and finishing of interior and exterior surfaces throughout the hospital. A strong commitment to safety, infection control, and working with minimal disruption to patients and staff is essential.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, patching holes, and washing walls to ensure high-quality adhesion.
  • Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, equipment, and fixtures using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
  • Erect scaffolding or ladders safely and set up protective barriers (e.g., plastic sheeting) to contain dust and debris in patient care areas.
  • Adhere strictly to hospital protocols regarding infection control, ensuring work areas are cleaned and sanitized after job completion.
  • Perform minor drywall repairs, plastering, and caulking.
  • Maintain inventory of paints, thinners, and tools; advise supervisor on supply needs.
  • Respond to emergency touch-up requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure all work complies with Joint Commission (or local health authority) standards and OSHA safety regulations.

Qualifications or requirements

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a painter, preferably in a commercial, healthcare, or industrial setting.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and color matching. Ability to operate power tools and spray equipment.

Soft Skills

  • Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Compliance

  • Must pass a background check and health screening.
