Position Overview:

The Project Manager is CSI’s lead operational representative on the ground in Zambia, responsible for the day-to-day management of all onsite project activities and coordination of the full onsite team. The role ensures all PMC and Owner’s Engineer services are delivered in accordance with the contract scope, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all onsite project activities across the solar PV and BESS program, coordinating the onsite multi-discipline team.
  • Develop and maintain the project execution plan, site mobilization plan, and onsite reporting system.
  • Monitor EPC contractor progress against the approved baseline schedule and escalate deviations to the Project Director.
  • Chair and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly site meetings with EPC contractors and stakeholders.
  • Review and track engineering submittments, inspection reports, NCRs, and construction punch lists (notes list).
  • Manage the document control system in coordination with the Document Controller.
  • Oversee construction inspection activities, commissioning supervision, and technical acceptance processes.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for submission to the Client and CSI senior management.
  • Manage interface risks between SPVs, EPC contractors, grid operators, and government bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental requirements, and the project HSE plan.
  • Coordinate with the offsite Engineering Manager for timely resolution of technical queries and RFIs.
  • Manage onsite resource deployment and ensure all personnel hold required competencies and certifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of engineering and project management experience.
  • At least 5 years managing onsite delivery of Solar PV and/or energy storage projects.
  • Experience in PMC or Owner’s Engineer roles is highly preferred.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is desirable.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
