Job Purpose

The Regional Commercial Agronomist will take strategic ownership of a regional agronomy support program in collaboration with sales, marketing and other related capabilities. Educate internal and external customers on the agronomic value proposition of the products in the market. Develop relationships with customer sales and agronomy teams, farmers/managers, researchers, and independent consultants within the region, with emphasis on strategic collaboration with key accounts to help maintain and grow the business.

Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage a regional portfolio of strategic field research projects to help evaluate current and emerging technologies
  • Plan and conduct crop production trainings to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and execute a regional field trial program for current products and product candidates that quantify dose response, frequency of application and timing for product candidates in a manner that validates product efficacy for use in future sales and marketing efforts.
  • Plan and coordinate Seed sales to commercial farmers in the farming blocks
  • Market development, agronomy and after-sales service of the Seed Co product basket
  • Oversee product placement and complaint management
  • Serve as an industry liaison and the Company media representative, becoming widely recognized as a thought leader and influencer at the regional and national levels.
  • Conduct strip trials and product development of new varieties in the area of operation
  • Implementation of digital strategy with the stakeholders under the commercial sector
  • Coordinate analysis and interpretation of data and offer guidance to Plant Response teams plus customers.
  • Coordinate field demonstrations trials with key commercial accounts and prospects, establishing agronomy to agronomy relationships with these customers and document trial process/data collection in CM platform.
  • Organize and participate in technical and promotional field days, customer related events and Plant Response/Industry conference/forums. Technical sales support.
  • Support the Sales Manager and team in developing promotional materials and campaigns by customer.
  • Lead and support marketing efforts, especially technical sales collaterals, commercial presentations, product positioning and competitive product analysis.
  • Carefully review, comment, and approve technical, sales, marketing and or advertising communications as assigned.

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, plant physiology, weed science, soil science or another related field.
  • Masters in any of the above fields will be a plus
  • Must have a minimum of 7+ years of work experience in Agronomy 
  • Must have proven Agronomy Field Experience
  • Southern Africa agronomy experience will be added advantage
  • Strong expertise in customer engagement, sales support, communication and agronomic sales support
  • Proven experience building and managing a network of customer relationships.
  • Must be experienced with soil fertility management and nutrient use efficiency products.
  • Familiarity in conducting crop research and evaluations including experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, and information systems familiarity.
  • Must have a Clean Motor Vehicle Drivers License
  • Must be a member of a relevant agricultural body
Summary of Key Responsibilities: Maintaining inventory records, conducting physical inventory counts, and reconciling inventory records to physical counts. Identifying and correcting inventory errors, and recommending inventory levels based on sales forecasts and demand. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely data entry Ensuring that inventory is properly classified and valued, and that inventory transactions are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Conducting Inventory Management training, and providing support to other departments. Reconcile inventory discrepancies and resolve issues promptly Monitor stock levels and perform regular audits to verify accuracy Prepare detailed inventory reports for management review Identifying and implementing cost-saving measures, such as vendor consolidation and inventory optimization. Examine inventory expenses and discrepancies to assist in making financial choices Establish and uphold Inventory Management Protocols Analyse inventory costs and variances to support financial decisions Collaborate with purchasing and warehouse teams to streamline processes Assist with month-end and year-end inventory closing activities
Excellent communication Skills Strong analytical skills Attention to detail Excellent organizational abilities Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Full CA Zambia, ACCA or CIMA preferred Must have a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in Stock Accounting Must be proficiency in Accounting software, such as Excel or ERP systems Proven experience in Inventory Management and Stock Accounting Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles and procedures. Must be a member of ZICA
