Job Purpose

The Sales Distribution Coordinator will responsible for generating leads and providing appropriate solutions for customers to boost customer acquisition levels. Analyse market potential and track sales apart from working towards profitability goals. Work with the Sales Manager to make sales presentations and product demonstrations, as well as negotiating contracts with potential clients. Ensuring that goods are efficiently received, stored, and dispatched according to organizational procedures and standards to right customers and in good time. Take charge of managing a team of warehouse staff, coordinating with transportation services, and maintaining inventory accuracy.

Summary of key responsibilities:

  • Visiting clients and potential clients to evaluate needs or promote products and services.
  • Monitor competition by gathering information on pricing/products/trends in the market
  • Resolve customer complaints and provide solutions via team effort
  • Answering client questions about credit terms, products, prices, and availability.
  • Supervise daily distribution center operations
  • Carry out all the Stock Keeping Units of products.
  • Be precise and meticulous so as not to incur either shortage or overage
  • Ensure to control the loading of stocks on the sales vehicle.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving departments
  • Conduct regular safety checks
  • Keep up to date with the best practices and trends in the industry
  • Coordinate sales efforts with marketing and company programs
  • Preparing and giving sales presentations to prospective clients
  • Negotiating contracts with clients/ chain stores
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Lead and mentor distribution team
  • Ensure the stocks in the van is kept clean and not damaged.
  • Conduct routine audits for proper handling and storage
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports
  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures
  • Address employee concerns and grievances
  • Oversee maintenance and operation of distribution equipment
  • Resolve logistical issues or discrepancies
  • Collaborate with sales, procurement and customer service departments
  • Plan and coordinate daily tasks and assignment
  • Identify and address potential bottlenecks or delays
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations
  • Manage month-end closing processes
  • Build strong customer relationships to ensure they are satisfied and long-lasting customers
  • Receive feedback and work on it to resolve issues

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong technical understanding-trucking.
  • An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge.
  • Excellent financial acumen.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or Logistics
  • Must have a minimum of at least 4+ years work experience in sales distribution management in the FMCG sector
  • Proven experience in van sales and distribution in the FMCG sector will be a plus
  • Must be a member of ZCILT and CILT
  • Must have a Clean Valid Driver’s license
