Background

A member of the Omnia group of companies, Bulk Mining Explosives Limited (BME) is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Bulk Emulsion Explosives. BME seeks applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill in the position of SENIOR ACCOUNTANT to be based in Lusaka

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting strategic financial planning. This role requires strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
  • Manage tax computations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Support annual audits by liaising with internal and external auditors.
  • Analyse financial data and provide insights to support decision‑making.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and controls.
  • Mentor and guide junior members of the finance team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in accounting or financial management.
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
