JOB DETAILS:
Job Overview:
The Transportation and Customs Clearance Officer oversees and manages all aspects of customs clearance operations to ensure efficient and cost-saving import/export activities. This role requires strong leadership skills, problem-solving intelligence, in-depth knowledge of customs regulations, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external departments.

Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership:
• Lead, train, and mentor the customs clearance team to achieve operational excellence.
• Set performance targets, monitor progress, and provide feedback to ensure team efficiency.

2. Customs Clearance Management:
• Supervise and streamline the customs clearance process for import and export shipments.
• Ability to resource new suppliers, maintain both economical cost and lowest risk.
• Develop and execute strategies to optimize clearance timelines and reduce costs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges related to shipment clearance.
• Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth clearance processes.
• Liaise with marketing team to satisfy their proper requirements.

3. CORE KPI:
• Reasonable cost of clearance and declaring for each box.
• Excellent efficiency of clearance from discharging to empty returns for import; and from order till gate on board for export.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs clearance or logistics, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of customs regulations and procedures. Familiarity with HS codes, duty structures, and free trade agreements.
• Key Competencies:
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Proactive and adaptable to changing industry trends.
