Introduction

Mooto College of Business is undertaking a research project funded by the global AI safety fund to advance research on AI alignment and control. We seek 20 highly skilled Research Leads to spearhead innovative research projects under this funding.

Role Purpose:
Lead the design, development, and delivery of an AI alignment research project, contributing to the global effort to ensure advanced AI systems are safe, reliable, and beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Define a research problem aligned with Project’s priorities: preventing harmful
AI behaviors and designing safe, controllable systems.

2. Develop project methodology, deliverables, and realistic timelines.

3. Lead a small research team, coordinate activities, and ensure milestones are met.

4. Collaborate with Mooto College of Business and international partners.

5. Prepare high-quality reports, and dissemination materials.

6. Utilize compute resources effectively for AI experimentation.

Qualifications & Experience:
1. Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cognitive Science, or related discipline (PhD or Masters will be an added advantage).

2. Proven track record in AI or software development research (minimum 5 years for leads).

3. Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering research projects (publications, patents, prototypes).

4. Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).

5. Experience with cloud-based compute resources (AWS preferred).

6. Knowledge of AI safety, ethics, or alignment is highly desirable.

7. Experience in interdisciplinary or cross-sector collaboration is an advantage.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Problem-solving and innovation mindset.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver quality outputs.
