SolidarMed is an International NGO, headquartered in Switzerland and working in Zambia to improve the overall health of the Zambian people by contributing to the training and retention of health workers (HR4H), particularly in rural areas of Zambia.
To achieve higher attraction and retention rates of medical staff, SolidarMed works to improve living conditions through the construction and rehabilitation of staff houses in rural areas. SolidarMed created a social enterprise, called SolidarInvest, to oversee these houses, soon totalling over 100 in our management.
Designation
SolidarMed in Zambia is growing and now needs to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced professional accountant to lead the management of its accounts, preparation of reports and design of systems, as well as the tax and statutory issues related to SolidarMed’s overall operations.
This is a 60% position i.e., the equivalent of 3 days each week. .

Main Duties
• Support the annual budgeting processes.
• Working closely with our Country Director and Administration Manager, advise and execute the day-to-day accounting functions of a company limited by guarantee in Zambia, handling payments, bookkeeping banking and queries.
• Ensure timely and accurate returns to our head office.
• Advise and prepare timely and relevant management accounting reports monthly for all our projects.
• Manage the likely migration to an accruals-based accounting system.
• Advice and support to ensure accurate valuations of our real and material assets.
• Ongoing support on tax and regulatory issues.
• Support the audit and other regulatory matters.

Education and Qualifications Required:
• Relevant first degree
• Completed ACCA Professional or full CIMA.
• Full ZICA.
Experience and Competencies Required:
• At least 3 years’ experience as an accountant or auditor.
• Experience of working in or with an International NGO.
• Highest degree of personal independence, integrity and honesty
• Knowledge of ZRA rules and regulations.
• Experience with non-profit boards is an advantage.
• Strong IT literacy and experience of Sage.
• Excellent English language skills and ability to produce high quality written materials.
