Background

The Council of Law Reporting is a statutory body established under the Council of Law Reporting Act, Chapter 46 of the Laws of Zambia, mandated to prepare, publish and disseminate law reports and other legal publications, thereby promoting access to legal information and supporting the development of jurisprudence in Zambia. In pursuit of its strategic objectives and commitment to institutional excellence, the Council of Law Reporting invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and innovative candidates for the following positions:

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to report to the Council Secretary and will be responsible for the following:

  • Undertake timely the preparation of financial statements in order to comply with financial and statutory regulations;
  • Undertake timely the preparation and submission of financial management reports in order to comply with financial regulations and facilitate decision making;
  • Undertake timely the collection of revenue in order to facilitate compliance to financial regulations;
  • Undertake effectively the coordination of the development and review of internal controls in order to enhance transparency and accountability in the utilisation of financial and material resources;
  • Undertake effectively the monitoring of expenditure in order to ensure that spending is in line with the approved budgets and financial regulations;
  • Undertake timely the costing of programmes in order to facilitate preparation of annual budget estimates, mobilisation and disbursement of financial resources;
  • Undertake timely the preparation of responses in order to resolve audit queries and promote sound financial accountability;
  • Undertake effectively accounting for assets in order to safeguard public property;
  • Undertake effectively the processing of the payroll in order to facilitate payment of personnel related obligations; and
  • Undertake effectively the storage and distribution of goods in order to ensure accountability, safe custody and availability to end users.

Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications

  • Full Form V/Grade 12 School Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or its equivalent
  • Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies
  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant work experience
