JOB DETAILS:

To design, implement, and maintain high-availability network and unified communications infrastructure across mining operations, ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance with industry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Network Infrastructure Management:
• Design and maintain multi-site LAN/WAN architecture with 98%+ uptime
• Configure and optimize Cisco/Juniper switches, routers, and firewalls
• Implement VLANs, ACLs, and QoS policies for traffic prioritization

Security & Compliance:
• Harden network devices per ISO 27001/NIST frameworks
• Conduct quarterly vulnerability assessments and penetration tests
• Maintain compliance with Zambian Data Protection Act

Voice Systems Administration:
• Manage unified communications platforms (Cisco CUCM/MS Teams)
• Optimize VoIP performance across WAN links
• Troubleshoot call quality issues and SIP trunk configurations

Fibre Optic & Physical Infrastructure:
• Perform fusion splicing and OTDR testing for fibre networks
• Oversee structured cabling installations and certifications
• Maintain network closet environmental monitoring

Vendor & Project Management:
• Lead ISP engagements for leased line provisioning
• Develop technical specifications for procurement
• Execute network expansion projects with <2hr downtime

Monitoring & Reporting:
• Implement SolarWinds/PRTG for real-time monitoring
• Generate monthly performance/availability reports
• Maintain CMDB with accurate network documentation

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Certification:
✓ Grade 12 Certificate (ZAQA verified)
✓ Bachelor's in IT/Telecommunications (ZAQA verified)
✓ CCNP (preferred)
✓ CFOT (advantageous)

Technical Competencies:
• Cisco IOS/NX-OS configuration
• Fibre optic splicing/troubleshooting
• VoIP/SIP protocol expertise

Experience:
• 3+ years in enterprise networking
• Mining/industrial environment experience
• ISP circuit management

CORE SKILLS:
• Fault diagnosis under pressure
• Technical documentation
• Stakeholder communication
