We are seeking an Adoption Centre Manager based at our Leopards Hill Adoption Centre!
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of animals and helping them find laving. forever homes? If so, our opening for an Adoption Centre Manager might be the perfect fit for you!
This is a hands-on, centre-based role located at our Leopards Hill Adoption Centre. The successful candidate will run the centre day-to-day, serving as the primary point of contact for potential adopters, actively promoting our rescue animals looking for homes, and overseeing the full adoption journey from first enquiry through to post-adoption follow-up.
Responsibilities or duties
Be the welcoming face of AARC at the Leopards Hill Adoption Centre, greeting and assisting potential adopters during centre visits
Actively promote rescue animals looking for homes through on-site engagement, social media, community events, and other marketing channels
Showcase available rescues compellingly including photography and write-ups to maximise their chances of finding a forever home
Manage the day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for animals and visitors
Screen adoption applications to ensure suitable matches between animals and adopters
Conduct on-site adoption consultations, pre-adoption interviews, and home visits when necessary
Oversee animal welfare at the centre, liaising with vets and volunteers to ensure all animals are property cared for
Maintain accurate records of adoption applications, approvals, animal inventory, and follow-up communications
Coordinate and participate in adoption events and community outreach programs
Provide information and resources to potential adopters regarding animal care and adoption procedures
Handle enquiries (in person, phone, and online) and provide exceptional customer service
Facilitate the resolution of any post-adoption issues or concems
Assist in the development and implementation of adoption policies and centre procedures
Supervise and coordinate volunteers working at the centre
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Strong understanding of animal behaviour and welfare and commitment to ethical adoption practices
Experience needed
Proven ability to manage a busy centre or similar environment, with confidence working independently
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Warm, professional communication and interpersonal skills comfortable engaging with the public on a daily basis
Good photography skills for showcasing adoptees, and a smartphone for photos & WhatsApp use
Proficiency in database management and record-keeping using Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Valid manual driver's licence and reliable transportation
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detall
Experience managing or supervising volunteers is an advantage
