Background

Silverlands Ranching Limited is an agricultural business operating in Southern Province, Zimba. The Company wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified Zambians to fill in the position of an Agricultural Electrician.

Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and control systems for the farm facilities.
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues in irrigation systems, ensuring safe operation of all electrical systems on the farm,
  • Install and configure electrical systems and equipment, such as lighting fixtures, switches, outlets, circuit breakers, and electrical panels, following manufacturer specifications and guidelines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting electrical components and systems, to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliability.
  • Test electrical systems and components for proper operation, voltage, current, and resistance, using multimeters, voltage testers, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, codes, and standards, including Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Install and maintain grounding systems, surge protectors, and electrical safety devices to protect against electrical hazards, shocks, and fires.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in electrical technology, equipment, and regulations, participating in training programs, seminars, and continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Respond to emergency service calls, power outages, or electrical emergencies promptly, troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Perform routine safety inspections and collaborate with other team members to plan and execute projects.
  • Making sure that the farm facilities/operations run at its maximum according to Silverlands Ranching Ltd standards
  • Any other relevant and related duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • With a valid membership practicing certificate of EIZ
  • At least a minimum professional qualification of a Diploma or equivalent.
  • Capable Of Driving a Motorbike is Mandatory
  • Minimum of two (4) years of experience in a reputable organisation
