Job overview

An Animal Husbandry officer is responsible for the daily care, feeding, breeding, and overall health management of livestock or other animals.They monitor behavior,ensure proper nutrition, manage housing sanitation,assist with births, and implement disease prevention protocols to optimize welfare and productivity.

Job Description

• Inspection & Regulation: Inspect livestock facilities,farms and abattoirs to ensure compliance with health and welfare regulations.
• Disease control:Implement and monitor vaccination, disease prevention and eradication programs
• Livestock Management & Health: Oversee, Monitor,and improve the health welfare and productivity of farm animals.(strong knowlege in swine management)
• Technical Support: Assist with breeding, feeding ,and waste management practices to optimize production
• Reporting & Administration: Maintain detailed records, prepare reports and assist with policy development if need arises.
• Extension Services: Educate farmers on modern animal husbandry techniques, breeding, housing, and nutrition

Qualification and skills

• Education：A degree in Animal Science,Veterinary Science, Agriculture, or a related field. Bachelors degrees or Masters degree from a Chinese university will be an added advantage.
• Grade 12 with 5 O levels credit or better
• Mandatory: Chinese language proficiency at HSK 4 or above.
• Must have studied in China (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of livestock breeding, animal nutrition disease management, and good livestock management practice(GLMPs). Especially swine
• Skills: Strong communication skills for training farmers, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in or ability to learn, data collection and analysis
• Physical Fitness: Ability to work in the field, sometimes. in remote, rural areas with for example ,exposure to weather
• Experience: 2 to 3 years of work experience with 3 traceable references

Job Enviroment

Animal Husbandry Officers often travel between farms, markets and offices, dealing with both practical, on site animal care and administrative regulatory duties.The role often involves working with government bodies or in the agricultural extension roles.
