About the Role
DOS is seeking a detail-oriented and disciplined Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial records, proper cost tracking, and effective follow-up on receivables.
Key Responsibilities
Payments Management
- Process supplier invoices, staff claims, and other payment requests in line with company policies.
- Prepare payment vouchers and ensure proper authorization before disbursement.
- Maintain accurate records of all payments and reconcile them with bank statements.
- Monitor outstanding payables and ensure timely settlement.
- Assist in preparing monthly payment schedules and cash flow forecasts.
- Manage petty cash.
- Make NHIMA payments for staff.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Support the Finance Manager in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor departmental expenditures and report variances.
- Assist in compiling financial data for reporting.
- Provide analysis for cost control and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Accounting & Reporting
- Record financial transactions accurately.
- Assist in preparing financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
- Prepare smart invoices for clients.
- Maintain proper filing of financial records.
- Follow up on debtors and collections.
- Track logistics-related costs.
- Track deadlines.
Skills & Competencies
- Attention to detail and high accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High integrity and professionalism.
Performance Indicators
- Timeliness and accuracy of payment processing.
- Quality of budget monitoring and reporting.
- Compliance with financial policies and audits.
- Contribution to cost control and efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
- Proficiency in Sage, QuickBooks, ERP systems, and MS Excel.
