Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant with 2 to 5 years of accounting experience to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, payroll management, and financial reporting. Experience with Sage 300 is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record journal entries. with proper documentation.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring correct processing and recording.
- Reconcile general ledger and control accounts for accurate financial data.
- Assist with stock management and reconciliation.
- Keep an accurate register of invoices, agreements, and supporting documents.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory returns (PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA).
- Maintain financial records using Sage accounting software.
- Reconcile supplier and customer accounts for accuracy.
- Process invoices, payments, and expense claims with proper approval.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Help process incoming invoices, ensuring they are accurate and complete.
- Generate and manage purchase orders (POs) for goods and services in accordance with company policies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or Diploma in Accounting
- ZICA or CA Membership
- Excellent excel skills
- Proactive individual focused on system and reporting improvements
- Hands on experience in (Sage ERP 300)
- Over 2 to 5 years’ experience in the same role.
Support and implement multi-industry Sage 300 ERP suite of products under the Software Solutions Division. Provide support to existing customers that may require training assistance or functional assistance in the day-to-day operations of their Sage ERP system; Implementation of the various core financial modules including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory Control, Point of Sale and Reporting in line with signed-off project plan; Support and implement NetOne’s NPOS solution for external customers including providing necessary post-implementation support or training; Document project requirements including preparation of Functional Specification documents, update project status and keep project managers appropriately informed on project requirements, status and progress. Implementation of ERP modules at client sites and update clients on specific changes or upgrades; Support both internal and external training requirements on end-user functionality, operational processes and system reporting; Support Commercial teams in the sales process by aiding in preparing and performing client demonstrations and presentations; and Ensure adherence to SLA’s with customers by providing prompt and professional support; Adhere to internal reporting frameworks for prompt and accurate reporting of project status, support call-status and weekly progress reports.
Experience in integrating Sage 300 ERP with systems. Strong account management and client relationship skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Self-motivated, ambitious, and results driven. Focused, accountable, responsible, and dedicated to delivering results. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Commerce/Finance or any related field(s) Minimum of 5 years of experience in implementation of Sage300 ERP, Point of Sale System Implementation of add-on modules such as Sage300 People, RMS, Auto-Simply or any other 3rd party modules of Sage300 will be an added advantage; Must have good knowledge of accounting principles, ERP systems functionality, Microsoft SQL and basic networking principles; Certification in Sage300ERP will be a significant advantage; Must have the ability to multi-task and manage multiply customer projects simultaneously; Must poses a high level of energy, drive, intellect, enthusiasm, initiative, and commitment; including the ability to work in a high pressure, fast-paced environment; Strong communication skills both verbal and written; Ability to collaborate with team members and customer representatives; and Must poses a Drivers’ license with over 2 year of driving experience.
