NetOne Zambia is a leading Information & Communications Technology (ICT) services provider based in Lusaka, Zambia and is looking for suitable candidates to fill up the position of Assistant Accountant.

Job Purpose

To support the finance function by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining financial records, assisting with statutory compliance, and supporting reporting and reconciliations across cashbooks, banking, receivables, payables and inventory.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cashbook Management

  • Capture receipts and apply prepayments accurately
  • Capture payments and allocate prepayments
  • Perform exchange rate updates in the system

2. Banking & Treasury Support

  • Initiate bank transfers in line with approvals
  • Coordinate deposits and cash withdrawals
  • Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis
  • Assist in preparation of cashflow forecasts and reports

3. Accounts Receivable

  • Raise and process customer invoices
  • Conduct debtor follow-ups to ensure timely collections
  • Follow up and capture WHT & VAT certificates
  • Prepare and submit weekly debtor reports to management

4. Accounts Payable

  • Generate purchase orders in line with procurement procedures
  • Process reverse VAT submissions and payments
  • Capture Goods Received Notes (GRNs)
  • Capture supplier invoices accurately
  • Perform month-end creditor reconciliations

5. Accounting & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit statutory returns in a timely manner, including: VAT, WHT, NAPSA, NHIMA, PAYE.
  • Perform control account reconciliations.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations

6. Inventory Management

  • Create and maintain inventory items in the system
  • Process stock issues and movements
  • Maintain accurate stock records
  • Participate in month-end stock counts

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Part-qualified or fully qualified (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA) is an advantage
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage 300, Pastel, SAP or similar)
