VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: AUTOMATION SUPERVISOR
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed individual for the position of Automation Supervisor to join the Process Plant team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Automation and Instrumentation Coordinator, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic evaluations of plant control systems, monitoring automated operations, and systematically identifying, isolating, and resolving faults, while supporting production objectives in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan, schedule, control, and fully document all work performed on control systems in accordance with approved company procedures, including troubleshooting and configuration changes.
- Perform maintenance of PLC hardware and SCADA systems to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance activities to sustain equipment availability for production and operational support.
- Inspect, service, maintain, and install machines and control system equipment as required.
- Manage spare parts ordering and maintain accurate inventory control for all instrumentation and control systems.
- Collaborate with maintenance planners and operations teams to execute scheduled and reactive maintenance work efficiently.
- Participate in investigation teams for plant upsets, failures, and incidents involving instrumentation and control systems.
- Interpret and apply relevant industry standards, including ISA, CSA codes, and API installation practices.
- Ensure compliance with work order classification and prioritization systems for timely job completion.
- Ensure full adherence to always approved operational and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely closure of all work orders.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, consent conditions, and company safety policies.
- Prepare and complete safety documentation including Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Toolbox Talks, FLRA, plant permits, and electrical isolation permits.
- Promote and strictly always adhere to safe working practices, demonstrating a strong safety-first attitude.
- Maintain all equipment and work areas in a condition consistent with company standards and maintenance plans.
- Maintain accountability to the Instrumentation and Automation Coordinator for all assigned duties and responsibilities.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Minimum Craft Certificate in Control and Instrumentation from a recognized college or institution.
- Minimum of Four (4) years’ experience as a Control & Instrumentation Technician within a recognized organization.
- Sound knowledge of Digital Control Systems and associated communication interfaces.
- Proven working experience with Siemens PCS7 control system.
- Ability to read, interpret, and respond accurately to technical drawings, specifications, and parts documentation.
- Strong proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Pronto or SAP, as well as MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint) and budgeting tools.
- Working knowledge of Industrial Ethernet, fieldbus protocols (Profinet, Ethernet/IP), and IT/OT networking fundamentals.
- Good understanding of workplace regulations, safety rules, and company policies relating to workshop machinery and accessories.
