Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Belt Splicer to join the versatile Process – Maintenance team.
We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Belt splicing Supervisor, you will be responsible for the establishment of preventative and responsive maintenance and development within the Crushers and Process area, to ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost-effective manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, policies, legal requirements and consent conditions.
Duties and responsibility for this position will include but not be limited to the following.
- Review of the maintenance tasks and procedures including JSA and SWP
- Responsible for day-to-day inspections, maintenance of the conveyor belt, structures and conveyor belt idlers
- Complete all PM sheet and other job-related paper works to a high standard and quality focusing on the accurate Information and submit to supervisor.
- Able to work on both Fabric and Steel code conveyor belts.
- Maintain positive interaction and professional work ethics through effective, honest communication with supervisors and operations personnel.
- Identify and resolve issues associated with breakdown and corrective maintenance in a timely manner
- Maintain high standard of housekeeping in the area during and after completion of the job/task
To be considered for the position, one must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Minimum Certificate in Conveyor belts splicing
- Preferably 2 years’ experience working with fabric and steel code conveyor belts
- Demonstrate some experience with both rubber lining and tiling of hoppers, launders and lagging of pullies
- Ability to do cold and hot conveyor belt repairs
- Good communication skills in English language
- Familiar with safe work practices.
