JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Job Purpose

To coordinate and implement soul-winning initiatives through active personal ministry, consistent follow-up, Bible study facilitation, and participation in small group ministry. The role is responsible for directly reaching, teaching, and nurturing individuals toward a commitment to Christ and integration into church membership.

2. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

KEY RESULT AREAPRIMARY DUTIES

Interest Development

  • In coordination with the Interest Coordinator systematically track and follow up with all Sabbath visitors and other church contacts.
  • Develop interests from community outreach, literature distribution (e.g., VOP, magazines), and evangelistic programs like school ministries.
  • Conduct visitation to non Adventist who show interest in joining the church and build relationships and assess spiritual needs.
  • Collaborate with the Publishing department to follow up on interests generated by Literature distribution.
  • In coordination with Publishing, organize and store literature.

Bible Study & Discipleship

  • Conduct both physical and online Bible studies with prospects, guiding them from initial interest through all fundamental Bible teachings.

Baptismal Preparation & Teaching

  • Adapt study methods to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students.
  • Manage a caseload of Bible students, maintaining regular contact and prayerful support.
  • Prepare students for baptism by thoroughly explaining the teachings and commitments of the Adventist faith.

Baptismal Preparation & Teaching

  • Teach baptismal classes for new converts, ensuring a clear understanding of doctrine, Christian living, and church structure.
  • Coordinate with the Pastor for the baptismal service and ensure all candidates are adequately prepared.
  • Provide post-baptismal nurture to integrate new members into the church family.

Worship & Pulpit Administration

  • Organize and lead Friday Vespers services, including securing speakers, planning the program, and preaching on selected Fridays.
  • Preach on selected Sabbaths as assigned by the Pastor.
  • Assist in worship services and other church meetings as needed.

Nurturing, Reclamation & Visitation

  • Visit selected members with the Pastor for shepherding, encouragement, and spiritual support.
  • Conduct independent visits to non-Adventist prospects.
  • Help organize and lead small group gatherings, vespers, or prayer meetings focused on fellowship and spiritual growth.

Evangelistic Event Coordination

  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of local church evangelistic programs (e.g., School Ministry, health expos, evangelistic road breakfast campaign).
  • Serve on committees for major evangelistic initiatives, often taking responsibility for follow-up systems and Bible study coordination for interested attendees.
  • Promote and enroll individuals in structured Bible correspondence courses (e.g., Voice of Prophecy), providing personal mentorship to track students from enrollment through to graduation.

Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all contacts, Bible studies, VOP student progress, and progress toward baptism.
  • Provide regular activity and progress reports to the Pastor and the Board of Elders.
  • Assist in mobilizing and training lay members for visitation and Bible study work.
  • Any other duties that shall be assigned by the Supervisor.

Digital & Media Evangelism

  • Support the church’s online evangelism efforts by helping to manage digital interactions, following up on online interests, and participating in live stream engagements.
  • Create or assist in creating simple, engaging content (text, video) to promote Bible studies and church activities online.
  • Utilize digital tools to maintain connection with Bible students and church members.

3. Minimum Qualifications

Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (05) credits including English and Mathematics.

Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology.

A baptized member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good and regular standing.

A church board / pastors’ recommendation letter will be an added advantage.

4. Other Core Attributes and Competences

Spiritual Maturity: A committed, baptized Seventh-day Adventist member with a consistent devotional life, a passion for souls, and a demonstrated walk with Christ.

Doctrinal Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs and the ability to teach them clearly and winsomely.

Evangelistic Focus: A proven 'soul-winner' with a heart for outreach and discipleship.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds, build trusting relationships, and provide compassionate spiritual guidance.

Communication & Teaching: Strong skills in conducting engaging, interactive Bible studies both in-person and online. Ability to simplify complex theological concepts.

Self-Management: Ability to work diligently with minimal direct supervision, manage time effectively, and pursue leads proactively.

Digital Proficiency: Competence in using digital platforms (Zoom, social media, email) for outreach, teaching, and follow-up.

Integrity: Exemplifies high moral character and ethical conduct in all interactions.
