The Boilermaker Lead Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating boilermaking teams in the fabrication and installation of steel supports and structural components for Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) systems. This role ensures that all tasks are executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise daily boilermaking activities including fabrication and erection of steel structures such as cable tray supports, lighting brackets, and instrument stands.
Interpret and communicate fabrication drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions clearly to the team.
Allocate tasks, monitor workmanship, and ensure productivity targets are met.
Verify compliance of all work with project specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.
Coordinate workflow and scheduling to meet project milestones and deadlines.
Conduct regular inspections and assist with quality control processes.
Enforce strict adherence to site safety procedures, participate in toolbox talks, and perform task risk assessments.
Maintain close liaison with the Boilermaking Superintendent regarding manpower, materials, progress, and any site issues.
Promote good housekeeping and ensure safe use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Mentor and support the development of junior artisans and apprentices to build team capability.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Trade Test Certificate – Boilermaker (Section 13 or 26D) recognized by QCTO/NAMB or equivalent authority.
Minimum 3–5 years’ boilermaking experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Proficient in reading and interpreting structural fabrication and E&I drawings.
Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and welding techniques (Arc, MIG, TIG).
Experience working on E&I structural support installations.
Physically fit and able to meet site medical and safety requirements.

Desirable Skills & Competencies

Prior experience on mining, industrial, or large-scale construction projects.
Good understanding of site safety standards, hot work permit systems, and hazard control.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve site challenges promptly.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Working Conditions

Remote site conditions at Lumwana, involving exposure to dust, noise, heat, and weather variations.
Physically demanding environment, with potential shift work and overtime during peak phases.
Strict adherence to PPE and site health and safety policies mandatory.
