JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose: To perform scheduled planned and preventative maintenance, attend to breakdowns, and modify and repair light vehicles and heavy equipment in order to provide Light Vehicle & heavy equipment support services.

Responsibilities:
• Assisting in implementing the safety systems and procedures required by the Zambian mines regulations.
• Contributing to the identification of the significant Health and safety risks and impacts related to heavy maintenance workshops including those related to identified applicable legislation
• Contribute to the development and implementation of plans/controls to mitigate significant health and safety risks in the Section.
• Participate in ensuring that incidents related to health, safety, or the environment are reported and assist in investigations to identify any additional controls required.
• Ensure that assigned planned and scheduled jobs are performed timely and systematically with quality finishing. Make sure that drop in breakdowns are given keen and adequate attention with a sense of urgency.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and initiative when confronted with challenges, the determination to overcome and outside-the-box solutions while on the job.
• To service and maintain light vehicles/earth-moving equipment as required ensuring proper operating condition. To troubleshoot the mobile fleet problems including but not limited to electronics, computer systems, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Respond to emergency maintenance callouts.
• Provide leadership and mentoring towards peers, assistants and trainees in the team. Foster a culture of collective responsibility, pulling together, building trust and resourcefulness. Encourage knowledge exchange and expertise.
• Actively participate in all sectional safety, toolbox, pre-shift and consultative technical meetings. Able to communicate freely with peers, up and down lines.

Skills & Qualifications:
• Grade 12 certificate, minimum credit in Mathematics, Science and English
• Minimum Advanced Technician’s certificate in Automotive/Heavy Equipment Repair (H.E.R)
• Minimum of 05 years of hands-on experience in a maintenance role. Must have held or acted in a Supervisory role.
• Experience in a mining or high-output environment with light, medium or heavy mobile equipment workshops.
• Able to work with electronic diagnostic equipment
• Able to perform wheel alignment with modern equipment
• Hands-on skills and experience with hydraulic equipment, water pumps, lighting plants, and Gensets.
• Digitally literate
• Able to overhaul, engines, gearboxes and differential units
• Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
