Job Summary:
The Clearing and Forwarding Manager oversees the import and export operations of a logistics company. They ensure the efficient and compliant clearance of goods through customs and manage the transportation of goods from origin to destination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate all clearing and forwarding activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of shipping and customs documentation (bills of lading, invoices, certificates of origin).
- Liaise with customs officials, shipping lines, airlines, and transporters.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs laws.
- Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers and service providers.
- Resolve any issues related to shipping delays, customs holds, or damaged goods.
- Manage a team of clearing agents and logistics coordinators.
- Track shipments and keep clients updated on the status of their goods.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a managerial role within a freight forwarding or logistics company.
- Expert knowledge of customs regulations, import/export procedures, and Incoterms.
- Strong relationships with customs brokers and transportation vendors.
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.
