JOB DETAILS:
Job Title: Community Nutrition Program Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Nutrition
Location: Butaro with possibility to work cross-site from time-to-time
Description of the role:
Partners In Health (PIH) is a Boston-based non-for-profit organization that for 25 years has focused on the health of the poor. PIH is now active in 10 countries, including Rwanda since 2005, known locally as Inshuti Mu Buzima (IMB). For the past 13 years, IMB has worked with the Rwandan Ministry of Health by building infrastructure, strengthening health systems, and training local staff at hospital, health center, and community level in three rural districts.
Over the past 10 years Rwanda has made dramatic progress in improving under-five child health. IMB has led several innovative Maternal and Child programs, including development of a mentoring program for health center nurses, and partnership with the MOH in national trainings in neonatology, IMCI and malnutrition management and women’s health. However, malnutrition remains unacceptably high, especially stunting, which has not shown a significant decrease for the past decade. The Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) has recently established the National Early Childhood Development Program (NECDP) to accelerate the decline in stunting through implementation of integrated Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers throughout Rwanda. In order to accelerate IMB’s nutrition intervention impact and define IMB’s uniqueness in the fight against malnutrition, we aim to recruit a Nutrition Program Coordinator to align IMB’s work with the Government of Rwanda’s stunting reduction strategy.
